Why life insurance and pensions matter
Life insurance eases the financial burden on your family in the event of death or accident. Private pension schemes allow you to grow your savings with state support and prepare for retirement.
- Private Pension System (BES): Long-term savings and retirement planning that participants join voluntarily.
- OKS: Employer-enrolled auto-enrolment system — passive retirement saving with a 20% government contribution.
- Term life: High cover at low premium; protection for loan obligations or family income.
2026 Government Contribution: From 1 January 2026, a government contribution of 20% applies to eligible participant-paid contributions under both the voluntary Private Pension System (BES) and the Automatic Enrolment System (OKS). Under OKS, an additional one-time government contribution of TRY 500 is calculated as a commitment for employees who remain enrolled at the end of the two-month initial period. Vesting of government contributions is subject to the applicable regulations. Official source: egm.org.tr
